Testimonials

From Lawrence

dear Arctic Adventures Management,
i wanted to drop a quick note to you about some of my recent experiences with your trips and staff.  keep in mind, i generally don't say nice things about people.

we went on the thorsmork hike with Valdi last week.  the guy is AWESOME in so many ways and i hope you recognize him for all that he is worth.  briefly, he was knowledgeable, intelligent, inspiring, comforting, understanding, kind, a hiking and safety specialist and just a great person to be around.  i really appreciated him and hope he knows that.

we also went hiking in skaftafell.  Lena was such a fun, supportive guide.  she was simply fantastic. and there was a girl who recently returned from Shanghai.  I'm sorry i dont remember her name.  why can't people in america all be nice like these staff members?!!

we also went rafting on the Astari last week.  there was a swedish river guide who i dont remember his name.  but he was just great as
well.  kind, supportive, nice to talk to, very good and directing.

as i was booking the trip, Sigga was my main contact.  she is phenomenal, detail oriented, made me feel welcomed.  basically, i wouldn't have book everything though your company if it wasn't for her.

Sara at backpackers.  im not sure if she or Sigga put my road book together but the level of detail made our trip so rich and wonderful.

and finally, everyone who helped me in the reyk office.  im sorry i dont know their names (i do remember Dagný and , but they helped me with first rate service.

thank you, THANK YOU, to you all for everything.  I'm back home now,
but miss Iceland dearly.

Driver Guided Super Jeep, South Coast Sightseeing & Lava Cave Day Trip in Iceland

Combination trip: South Shore sightseeing day trip on a driver guided super jeep & lava cave. All year super jeep day trip from Reykjavik, Iceland.

The South Shore is Icelands second most popular sightseeing day tour after the Golden Circle and there is a good reason for it. You can walk behind the 62 meter high waterfall Seljalandsfoss, see the mighty Skógafoss waterfall, stand on a black lava sand beach and if the weather permits you might even see the world famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano!

Your day starts by climbing up into a super jeep which stands high above the ground on it´s 38 inch tires. The 4x4 monster truck is specially built for the rugged Icelandic nature and on this adventurous day tour you will get a glimpse of what it is capable of. We start by exploring the hidden world under a lava field! On our way through Leiðarendi lava tube you will see the marvels that volcanic activity has created in the past. It is a unique experience where you will explore this dark and quirky world beneath us. Read the details about the lava caving tour Underworld.

After the mysterious lava caving we will drive a little further east to the "1000 River Road" which is a mountain road above the scenic Hengill geothermal area. As the name suggests we have a few river crossings ahead of us before we descend down to the village Hveragerði. From there we have an hours drive on the grassy lowlands to Seljalandsfoss waterfall. When we get there you can walk behind the magical 62 meters of water but be prepared for some fresh mountain water spray!

As we drive further along the South Shore we enter a volcano triangle which consists of the famous Eyjafjallajökull Volcano on our left, the sleeping monster Katla caldera in front of us and the beautiful Vestmannaeyjar Volcano Islands on our left. In the middle of the volcano triangle we take a right turn off road following a glacier river to the black lava sand beach by the ocean. The powerful North Atlantic Ocean will watch over us as we race our 4x4 super jeep on the moon like landscape. We will get back to normal roads by the mighty Skogafoss waterfall and after admiring it up close we will set our course back to Reykjavik city.

The are a number of reasons why we consider our South Shore day tours better than others:
-You are not a tourist without a name in a big tour bus. Our tours are personal since our jeeps seat 5 to 12 persons.
-You can chat with your guide since he won´t be sitting far away from you.
-The tour does not take as long as in a tour bus since you don´t have to wait for the 40th person to get on board your bus.
-You can get the most out of your day by including an activity. You can choose between lava caving, glacier hiking and quad biking!
-And last but not least you´ll be in a super jeep! The super jeep will get you off the beaten track by crossing rivers and driving off road on black lava sand beaches.
To put it in a few words: On our sightseeing day tours you´ll get a personal Icelandic super jeep safari with an optional activity!

Customized tours and private departures are available upon request. For a super jeep and a driver the price starts from 130.000 ISK per day.
