Self drive super jeep adventure tour to South Iceland’s most popular natural sights, available with a pick up from Reykjavík city. This tour combines a visit to the highlights of the famous Golden Circle, dirt road driving and river rafting on Hvítá river.
We head off east from Reykjavík through Mosfellsdalur rift valley and down to Lake Thingvallavatn, Icelands largest lake. Here we stop to visit the National Park Thingvellir where you will see for your self one of only two tectonic rift valleys in the worlds, created as the continental plates slowly drift. An amazing view over the tectonic plates and over to Hrafnabjörg table mountain. Þingvellir is also the only UNESCO‘s cultural world-heritage site in Iceland. From there we take the mountain trail behind the perfectly shaped shield volcano Skjaldbreid and along Iceland´s second largest glacier, the Langjökull. After about a two hours drive on mountain trails and some river crossing we get back to the main roads again a few kilometers above Gullfoss waterfall.
At Gullfoss we make a short stop to view the spectacular 32 meter high cascade. From there we only need to drive 10 km down the road to witness the hot spring Strokkur erupt at Geysir. There we will see a variety of geothermal pools and erupting hot springs, surely one of the highlights of any visit to Iceland and a must do.

We will have lunch at the river rafting base camp Drumbó, after lunch we will gear up and go rafting at the glacier river Hvítá. The river runs through a beautiful canyon, Brúarhlöð, where we have an optional cliff jump after running through fun rapids. Afterwards we warm up with a showers and sauna before entering the road again.
This trip offers an amazing ride through the landscapes and natural forces that have shaped and continue to shape Iceland.
